We act as a de facto “Extended Design Office” for global OEMs & End users connected with Thermal Engineering. Our services cater to steam boilers, hot water generators, hot air generators, fired heaters, thermic fluid heaters, Waste Heat Recovery systems, Process Integrated Boilers (PIBs), heat exchangers, etc.

2003

  • Urja-Disha established.
  • First boiler design supplied: to NHEC for MGSSK Karnataka (Sugar factory): Bagasse-fired 80 TPH/45 bar/450°C.

2005

  • First cotton stalk fired boiler 70 TPH – 67 bar / 480°C @ GAPS power for CBL (Kutch lignite)

2006

  • J.V. formed with Petrochem Development Co. Inc., USA, for global supply of Fired Heater engineering.

2008

  • First high-temperature (650°C) Coal-Fired Hot Air Generator designed for MSPL
  • First Coke Drying System developed for Kalyani Steel - 35 TPH

2009

  • First coal-fired FBC boiler 10TPH / 45 bar / 450°C for PENTOKEY
  • First waste heat recovery system on Stove : 3.5 MKcal/hr for SESA Goa steel plant

2010

  • First Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) fired boiler - 60 TPH design offered to Mechmar for Natural Electricity, Thailand.
  • First thermal Solar power plant boiler 22 TPH / 350°C / 32bar for Atria Power.

2012

  • JV with Media Agility USA for the development of cloud-based design software.

2016

  • Single drum Bagasse fired boiler 140 TPH for Gangamai Sugar

2018

  • First Distillery Spent-wash fired boiler 28 TPH / 45 bar / 400°C to SS Engineers for Sharayu Agro.

2019

  • First D-type Natural Gas fired boiler for I0CL : 20 TPH / 25 bar / sat
  • First mustard husk fired boiler 40 TPH / 45bar / 450°C for GEMCO
  • First Waste Heat Recovery Boiler on Cyanide Incinerator 22 TPH / 20 bar for UPL.
  • First Heat Pipe design for superheated steam generator for IIT Powai.

2020

  • First MSW (municipal solid waste) fired boiler 35 TPH / 45 bar / 400°C for EFOR- Turkey.
  • First Lignin Syrup & Trash cake fired boiler 42 TPH / 32 bar to Praj for IOCL Panipat’s 2-G Ethanol project based on paddy straw.
  • First paddy husk fired boiler for Jind Power.

2024

  • Acquired new office space in the industrial hub of Pune, equipped with modern amenities.
  • Launched a new product-line of ‘Rotary Particulate Collector’, a novel product based on a patented revolutionary technology in the field of Particulate Emission Control.

Managing Director & Technology Head

Sachin is the fountainhead of the technical prowess of Urja-Disha. A post-graduate in Mechanical & Design Engineering, he started his career with Thermax Pune, in the area of thermal Design & Engineering, and over a decade of association, specialised in fired & unfired boilers, fired heaters, waste heat recovery systems, Process Integrated Boilers, special Heat Transfer equipment etc.

Thereafter he went on to garner valuable expertise in related areas through further assignments, technical collaborations and associations. He has interacted and worked with leading process licensors viz. KTI, UOP; technology providers like Struthers Wells Corp, Petro Chem Development Co, Oschatz, Lentjes, Alstom; and EPC contractors like Bechtel, EIL, UHDE, KPG, Stork, Prichard, Black & Veatch, Rolls Royce, Hyundai, Samsung, etc.

Knowledge of various applicable codes like ASME, ANSI, BS, API, IBR, TEMA, and exposure to diverse end-user industries, endow him with a special connect with the customers’ needs.

His passion for education & teaching has led him to play the important role of expert adviser & syllabus committee member for post-graduation courses at several engineering colleges. He is a founder member and key functionary of Teaching & Learning Community (TLC) for SMEs.

A founding member of Urja Disha, Vaishali brings over two decades of hands-on expertise in business strategy, HR, Finance and Compliance. With a Master’s degree in Physics, specializing in semiconductors, and a background in Marketing Management, she has played a pivotal role in the company’s growth and innovation since its inception.

She has led the HR and Finance functions along with Compliance & Administration, streamlining processes and implementing strategic initiatives, and has driven financial strategy and resource optimization, propelling the company towards sustained growth and industry leadership.

Naresh Kumar

Chief Executive Officer

Naresh Kumar is a chemical engineer from BITS Pilani, with an MBA in Marketing & Finance, and an accomplished thermal equipment marketing professional with diverse experience across related products and industries.

He spent his formative years with Thermax selling boilers, heaters, waste heat recovery systems etc. He front-ended their foray into South-East Asia notably in Indonesia, notching up impressive performance for the entire portfolio of Thermax.

Thereafter he was with Associated Capsule Company, followed by Doshi Ion as the CEO, with GMR Ferro Alloys as CEO & ED, with ME Energy and Bajaj Power Equipment as the President. He joined Urja-Disha in 2023, bringing a sharp focus on systems & customer orientation and new business development.

Engineering Head

G.S. Deshpande is a seasoned mechanical engineer in Thermal Engineering. He passed his B.Tech. and M.Tech. both from IIT-Bombay. He has built a specialised career in Thermal Engineering, mainly at the Engineering department of Thermax covering the entire range of thermal equipment including Fired Heaters with Struthers wells technology among others. He was the Head of Engineering at Thermax before joining Urja-Disha.

Chief Human Relations Officer, Companywide Quality Officer

S.V.Thakurdesai is a Mechanical engineer, MBA, and Executive Education Alumni of IIM, Ahmedabad.

He has served six different Engineering manufacturing companies like Walchadnagar Industries Ltd., Thermax Ltd., Forbes Marshall Ltd, to name a few. He has handled various portfolios, specialising in System Management and Human Relations.

He is also a certified Lead Auditor for Quality Management Systems – ISO 9001:2015 and Occupational Health and Safety Management systems- ISO 45000. He has developed Quality Management Systems for more than 30 companies and got them certified by Bureau Veritas, TUV (Nord), TUV (Sud) or TUV (Austria). He has been also associated with some of them for maintenance of the QMS.

He is associated with Urja-Disha for about 17 years, and was instrumental in getting Urja-Disha certified for Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and ‘Great Place To Work’. GPTW is a globally recognised accreditation award to organisations for fostering a high trust, high performance culture that prioritizes employee well-being and development.

Anil Deshpande is a Chemical Engineer from Laxminarayan Institute of Technology (LIT), Nagpur, and a PGDM from IIM Calcutta.

He is a multi-talented professional with expertise in market research, marketing strategies, information systems, and new business development.

Anil has worked with leading consulting and manufacturing organizations like Tata Economic Consultancy Services and Thermax, where he played a pivotal role in key Market Entry and Strategic Planning assignments, along with other high-impact initiatives.

Ajay Hantodkar

Ajay Hantodkar

Head - Engineering & Operations Management

Ajay Hantodkar is a Mechanical Engineer with a specialized career spanning over 36 years in the design and engineering of thermal and critical process equipment.

He has worked with Walchandnagar Industries Limited and Thermax Babcock Wilcox Energy Solutions (TBWES). Before joining Urja-Disha, he served as the Head of Engineering at TBWES.

Ajay brings deep expertise in microplanning, design standardization, modularisation, statutory compliance, and global project execution. His exposure to global technology consultants and EPC contractors adds immense value to Urja-Disha’s engineering and operations excellence.
